My name is Emma Daniel, and I am pleased to say that I am HHF’s Summer 2022 intern. I am born and raised in Honolulu, and it is here that I cultivated my love for design and nature. I just finished my second year at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and I am studying landscape architecture, although I started out as an environmental management major. Through my degree in landscape architecture, I hope to design inclusive spaces for everyone’s needs and focus on sustainable planting, building, and designing. My goals going into this internship with HHF are to learn more about native Hawaiian plants, to get a better understanding of the logistical side of landscape architecture that we don’t focus on in school, and to better understand the role of everyone involved in a project. Thank you to HHF for this amazing opportunity, I am excited to see what the coming weeks have to bring during my time here.
