HHF provided station planning for Honolulu’s new bikeshare system as a subconsultant to Toole Design Group under a US Environmental Protection Agency grant to support Bikeshare Hawaii. HHF conducted a multi-criteria analysis to identify up to 180 bikeshare stations within urban Honolulu. The project team worked collaboratively with the City and County of Honolulu to develop station siting guidelines and a standardized permitting process. The station selection process was supported by a comprehensive community engagement strategy that was designed to facilitate community input and engage key stakeholders.
Bikeshare Hawaii launched its Urban Honolulu system on June 28, 2017 with 100 stations and 1,000 bikes (“biki’s”).
