Kahuku, O‘ahu, Hawai‘i
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Honolulu District
HHF led a multi-disciplinary team in this effort to preserve and document the historic buildings, structures and landscape setting associated with the National Register-eligible Kahuku NIKE Missile Site on the north shore of O‘ahu. In support of Section 106 consultation measures, HHF conducted necessary research and prepared a HAER Addendum that documents the physical condition of the NIKE Site from pre-development through the present day. Design drawings, specifications, design analysis and cost estimates were prepared for mothballing and/or rehabilitating 23 structures at the site. HHF was responsible for quality assurance, client coordination, and team coordination with the project historical architect, engineer, and cost estimator. The project team received an Overall Exceptional ACASS rating for this rather unique historic preservation project.
