Haleiwa Town Streetscape Improvements

In a collaborative effort to improve the attractiveness and safety of the Kamehameha Highway street frontage through Historic Haleiwa Town, Helber Hastert & Fee prepared conceptual streetscape improvement plans for Bisop Estate, the major landowner. Helber Hastert & Fee worked closely with the Haleiwa Main Street organization, City & County of Honolulu agencies and community members. Recommendations focused on defining the highway’s edge and pedestrian areas; establishing a rhythm of small street trees to provide continuity, human scale and comfort; and creating small plaza areas for gathering, eating and relaxing. Potential common parking areas were also identified.
