Helber Hastert & Fee assisted Castle & Cooke’s North Shore and Central Oahu planning initiatives with a GIS analysis of the area of interest. An up-to-date GIS was developed that included administrative, natural resource, agricultural, transportation, land use, zoning, hydrologic, and topographic, and high resolution satellite data. The satellite data provided an orthographic base for current field and hydrologic feature extraction. A number of analyses were performed to identify different qualities of their land, including future urban potential, future agricultural potential, and other possible economic activities. The GIS also provided the basis for a series of cartographic products to communicate the findings to company officers and the State Land Use Commission.
