Helber Hastert & Fee was established in 1980 and is one of the largest planning groups in the Pacific Region. With projects on all the main islands of Hawaii and throughout the Pacific Region, we have established working relationships with a wide range of public- and private-sector clients. HHF takes pride in the individual service that we provide to clients and the long-standing relationships that follow from this commitment.
Over the years, HHF’s planning services have expanded and our professional services have evolved to include landscape architecture, historic preservation, and GIS and cartography.
Helber Hastert & Fee’s mission is to sensitively address the relationship of people and nature in land planning, landscape architecture, and historic preservation. We firmly believe that respecting and recognizing the local economic, social, cultural, and environmental qualities of a project area are essential for success and acceptance by the community, whether a project is publicly or privately sponsored. HHF takes pride in the fact that its plans have been successfully adopted or followed in Hawaii, the Pacific Region, and throughout the world.
HHF’s mountains-to-the-sea logo was inspired by the Hawaiian system
of land tenure in which the divisions of each island—ahupuaa—offered
a variety of soils, of elevations, climate, hydrology, and plant and
animal life that provided for virtually every need of its residents.
This consideration of environmental, economic, and social factors for
sustainability was a forerunner of contemporary land planning.
Helber Hastert & Fee maintains memberships in the U.S. Green Building Council and the Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii and has been a gold sponsor of ULI (Urban Land Institute) Hawaii Chapter since 2003. HHF sponsors staff memberships in a diverse array of professional and business organization, including the American Planning Association (APA), American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA), Association of Pedestrian and Bicycle Professionals (APBP), and Hawaii Geographic Information Coordinating Council (HGICC).
HHF is proud of the many awards that highlight our commitment to delivering clients creative solutions for their planning and development projects.
